LIROS – Code of Conduct

LIROS GmbH recognises its responsibility as a member of the textile industry and adheres to the "Code of Conduct".

Preamble

The Confederation of the German Textile and Fashion Industry (t+m), its member associations and the companies in the industry are committed to their social responsibility, regardless of whether they carry out their economic activities in Germany, Europe or other parts of the world. This is why they have drawn up this Code of Conduct. It is available to members of the textile and fashion industry as a voluntary instrument and serves as a guideline for corporate behaviour that always takes social responsibility into account at its core.

t+m and its member organisations recommend the application of the Code of Conduct. Every company should commit itself to it and take appropriate measures to ensure compliance with its contents. Wherever possible and economically justifiable, every company should work to promote the stated objectives. This also applies in relation to suppliers and customers.

International treaties are mentioned at various points in this Code of Conduct. These are binding and are generally aimed at states, not companies. The references are therefore to be understood in such a way that companies are guided by their content, insofar as this is possible for a private sector organisation.

1. Basic understanding

Socially responsible corporate governance is one of the basic and core principles of entrepreneurial activity.

In all business decisions, the economic, social and environmental consequences must be considered and an appropriate balance struck between the interests at stake. Companies always have the principles of the UN Global Compact in mind

Companies voluntarily contribute to the well-being and sustainable development of global society at the locations where they operate, within the scope of their individual capabilities. The same applies to business relationships within the textile chain.

Business partners must be treated fairly. Contracts must be honoured unless the framework conditions change fundamentally. Generally applicable ethical values and principles must be observed, in particular with regard to human dignity.

2. Scope of application

This Code of Conduct applies to all branches and business units of the obligated company worldwide.

3. Cornerstones of socially responsible corporate governance

Compliance with the law
The company committing itself to the Code of Conduct (hereinafter referred to as "LIROS GmbH") complies with the laws and regulations of the countries in which it operates. In countries that do not have a satisfactory level of regulation, it carefully examines which corporate practices from Germany should be applied to support responsible corporate governance.

LIROS GmbH pursues legally impeccable and recognised business practices and fair competition.
In particular, it will not participate in agreements or engage in behaviour that is contrary to German or European antitrust law or the antitrust law of any other country in which LIROS GmbH is active.

LIROS GmbH rejects corruption and bribery within the meaning of the UN Convention. It promotes transparency, acting with integrity and responsible management and control within the company in an appropriate manner.

The interests of LIROS GmbH and the private interests of employees must be kept strictly separate.

Consumer interests
LIROS GmbH takes the interests of consumers into account in its actions. It ensures that its products are safe and harmless to health for the respective intended use.

Legal limits must be adhered to and, if possible, undercut.

The interests of consumers are also taken into account appropriately in information and operational measures.

Communication
LIROS GmbH communicates the Code of Conduct and its implementation to employees, business partners and other interest groups by publicising it on its own website. It is prepared to engage in dialogue about the contents of the Code of Conduct.

Contractual partners should be informed of the key measures upon request and on the condition that this is done reciprocally. It should be clear to the contractual partner that compliance with the Code of Conduct is fundamentally guaranteed. This does not imply any entitlement to the disclosure of trade and business secrets or information relating to competition or other information worthy of protection.
