Buhl ranked 6th at ILCA 7 worlds!

LIROS brand ambassador Philipp Buhl ranked 6th at ILCA 7 worlds in Barcelona. The defending champion and olympic-fifth wasn't allowed to fight for the podium position and his fifth worlds medal on the finals day, because the controversial worlds race committee cancled already at noon.

Philipp Buhl sums up: „I'm a little proud, that I was able to advance to sixth place. Like all other top people I'd have liked to sail on the finals day. Today there were best conditions with 18, 20 knots and waves with two metres height, for which we train lifelong as olympic sailors and for which we burn. At this time everything would have been possible for me.“

The New Zealander Thomas Saunders won the world champion title for the first time. The Irishman Finn Lynch won silver followed by the Croatian Tonci Stipanovic only after five qualification races and three final races.

„Philipp Buhl delivered a very decent result under severe worlds conditions. It honours a world class sailor like him, that he's still capable to secure a top position, even when frameword conditions aren't perfect“, DSV sports director Nadine Stegenwalner pays tribute to the top performer of the German Sailing Team.
